Methodology

Testing Algorithm:

If syphilis test is positive, the RPR test is performed automatically as a reflex test followed with a titer if the RPR is positive.

If RPR is negative a T.Pallidum antibody by FTA-ABS or TP-PA will be performed.

Preferred:

Specimen Type: Draw blood in a gold-top serum gel tube(s). Spin down and send 1.0 mL refrigerated

 

Also Acceptable:

A speckled-top serum gel tube (s) or a plain, red-top tube(s) is also acceptable.

 

Specimen Minimum Volume: 0.4 mL
