Reference Values

0-35 U/mL

There are no standard reference units, therefore users should not make qualitative comparisons between different methodologies. A low result does not necessarily indicate the absence of residual or recurrent ovarian carcinoma. An elevated result may be found in a small percent of healthy patients as well as those with non malignant conditions such as cirrhosis, endometriosis (stage II-IV), first trimester pregnancy, hepatoma, lung cancer, ovarian cysts, pancreatic adenocarcinoma, pericarditis, severe hepatic necrosis, and uterine carcinoma.
