Alkaline and acid gel electrophoresis performed if warranted.
Hemoglobin-S Solubility testing performed to confirm the presence of Hgb-S.

Specimen Requirements
Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s), and send EDTA whole blood. Mix by gently inverting 8 times. Forward unprocessed whole blood refrigerated or ambient.
Note: Please provide recent transfusion history, patient’s age, race, and diagnosis.
