Test Code LAB458 Cytoplasmic Neutrophil Antibodies, Serum (ANCA)
Reporting Title
Anti-Neutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibody
Methodology
INOVA Diagnostics, Inc., Immunofluorescence Assay (IFA)
Two antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) patterns are detectable with this method. Cytoplasmic ANCA (cANCA) is suggestive of Wegner’s granulomatosis and to lesser extent microscopic polyarteritis. Perinuclear ANCA (pANCA) is associated with crescentic or rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis.
Note: 1. If positive for cANCA, a titer will be performed and a reflex proteinase 3 (PR-3) and Myeloperoxidase antibody (MPO) will be performed at an additional charge.
2. If positive for pANCA, a reflex myeloperoxidase (MPO) antibodies and a PR3 will be performed at an additional charge.
