Test Code LAB472 Hepatitis Bs Antibody (Anti-HBs), Qualitative
Reporting Title
Hepatitis Bs Ab
Methodology

Performing Laboratory
OhioHealth Laboratory Services-RMH Special Testing
Specimen Requirements
Preferred;
Draw blood in a gold-top serum gel tube(s). (Hemolyzed specimen is not acceptable.) Spin down and send 1 mL of serum refrigerated. A speckled-top serum gel tube (s) or a plain, red-top tube(s) is also acceptable.

Reference Values
Unvaccinated, unexposed to hepatitis B: negative
Note: 1. This assay does not distinguish between vaccine-induced antibodies and infection-induced antibodies. A total antibody hepatitis B core assay may help resolve this.
2. A negative result does not indicate that patient was not vaccinated or was not infected with hepatitis B virus.
