This test detects HIV-1 and HIV-2 antibodies and HIV-1 Ag,  but does not distinguish them

HIV1-2 Ab  Differentiatiion LAB91008 performed on 1st time positive screening test.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen must arrive within 24 hours of draw.

 

Draw blood in a gold-top serum gel tube(s). Spin down within 24 hours of draw and send 1 mL (pediatric volume:  0.5 mL) of serum refrigerated.

Note:  

1. Serum: a speckled-top serum gel tube (s) or a plain, red-top tube(s), is acceptable.

2. Plasma: Li-heparin,EDTA plasma

Collection Instructions:

1. Gel tubes should be centrifuged within 2 hours of collection.

2. Red-top tubes should be centrifuged and aliquoted within 2 hours of collection.

3. A mint-green heparin tube(s) is also acceptable.
