Specimen Requirements
1. Collect 10 mL of urine in a screw-capped, sterile container.
2. Label container with patient’s name (first and last), date and actual time of collection, and type of specimen.
3. Maintain sterility and forward promptly at ambient temperature. If there is a delay in transport, send specimen refrigerated.
Note: Boric acid may be used as a preservative (B-D Collection Kit). Urine culture tubes (grey) are also acceptable.

Note: Test detects Legionella pneumophilia serogroup 1 antigens in urine. Legionnaires disease cannot be ruled out since other serogroups and species may also cause disease.
