Used to detect pneumococcal soluble antigen in human urine.

Specimen Requirements
1. Collect 10 mL of urine in a screw-capped, sterile container.
2. Label container with patient’s name (first and last), date and actual time of collection, and type of specimen.
3. Maintain sterility and forward promptly at ambient temperature. If there is a delay in transport, send specimen refrigerated.
Note: Boric acid may be used as a preservative (B-D Collection Kit). Urine culture tubes (grey) are also acceptable.

Negative
Note: A negative result suggests no current or recent pneumococcal infection. A negative result does not rule out Streptococcus pneumoniae infection since antigen present in specimen may be below detection limit of test.
