Specimen Requirements
Draw a full, light blue-top (citrate) tube; and send citrated whole blood. Mix by gently inverting 8 times. Do not centrifuge. Forward unprocessed whole blood.

Newborn-1 week: 100-478 K/mcL
2 weeks: 150-400 K/mcL
Critical values
Red category conditions complete alert within 1 hour (initial result only)

Outpatients: <50 K/mcL or >1,000 K/mcL
