Specimen Requirements
Specimen must arrive within 30 to 60 minutes of collection (maximum: 2 hours if kept warm).
Collect entire ejaculate (minimum volume: 1 mL) in a clean, dry, glass or plastic container. (Specimen collected in a condom is not acceptable.) Specimen must be kept at body temperature (37° C). Forward promptly to laboratory.
Note: 1. To keep specimen warm, place container inside clothing, next to skin.
2. Patient should have 3 days of sexual abstinence (ejaculation) at time of semen collection for accurate results.
3. Date and time of collection are required on request form for processing.
